Over The Hump

28 06 2007

ladder pose Imagine, if you will, a bunch of over worked, over played group of teens and leaders all in the same place at the same time…Scary!God has overcame it all this week by giving everyone the courage and strength to get through our weakest times. This is Thursday and although everyone was a little tired, the work of God still showed through.Everyone still put their game face on and saw the day as though God was in control.Everything from building a club house for a handicapped kid named Isaac, to giving encouragement to the elderly.Groups have been demolishing buildings and building decks. Groups have been Discovering The Mystery.Tomorrow we Unleash The Mystery!!!!God Bless,~Pastor Matt

Day Away

Sand dunes
The theme for the week has been Discovering the Mystery, but today most of us embraced the mystery by seeing and experiencing God’s amazing creation through the Great Sand Dunes National Park.Everyone had a chance to climb the dunes in hopes of reaching the top. Many found that it was not so easy. Our day ended up at the Sand Dunes Hot Springs Pool.Lots of fun, lots of fellowship, lots of food! Some of the students decided to give us all a show on the diving boards with arial feats and belly flops.Good fun..~Pastor Matt

All Work And No Play..

26 06 2007

Some times we work and work and work and feel like nothing gets accomplished except sore backs and loss of valuable “play” time.We were not saved BY good works, but rather, we are saved FOR good works. The work that is done this week here in Alamosa, Colorado is done for the Glory of God and the Amazing Sacrifice He gave for us.The groups we are blessed with this week, have been our best yet! They put others first without regard for themselves.God is good. All the time.~Pastor Matt

Horsing Around?

25 06 2007

Pulling Wire Well, this is it… First day of work and we happen to find ourselves amazed at how willing this group is to work! Each group woke up, fired up! It is so awesome to see God move through so many hands and feet. This group pictured here is pulling a new fence across the Alamosa River to keep horses in their pens. The Mountain Trails Youth Ranch is a ministry in the Alamosa area geared for youth camps and retreats. For more info on the Mountain Trails Youth Ranch You can email me at: acrcmatt@gmail.com.Four more days and this will be over, but the impact this has already had will last forever!~Pastor Matt

Scavenger

24 06 2007

scavenger Our first full day here at SERVE, and we kick it off with a scavenger hunt in the mountain town of Creed. Great fun was had trying to decipher the clues left to us on the game sheet. The groups had to figure out the clues, then take a picture of themselves in front of the object. At the end of the game the cameras are turned in to see who wins the game. We will find out Friday…The night was ended at a local cemetery where it was explained to us by SERVE speaker Jason Cody, how dead we really are in our sin, and how little we can do. It takes God and God alone to pull us from our state of depravity.Great Stuff!~Pastor Matt
